I’ve always been into theme parks, roller coasters, and thrill rides — I just didn’t realize it until a few years ago. This piece came to me after a visit to the park, snapping photos while sitting and watching the crowds hustle by in the heat.
I’m also drawn to retrofuturism, and this park has plenty of it. Honestly, it felt that way to me even back in the ’70s.
There’s something surreal about experiencing a place as an adult that you last saw as a kid. It creates this weird kind of temporal dissonance — like living two versions of yourself at once.
